Let’s cut to the chase…finding your ideal client can feel like trying to pick the perfect avocado at the grocery store—so much pressure, right? But when you finally nail it, it’s a total game-changer for your creative business. Knowing exactly who you’re talking to—and how to talk to them—is the secret sauce to creating meaningful relationships and making your business thrive.
As someone who works closely with female-owned small businesses, I get it: you want clients who vibe with your vision and respect your process. So, let’s dive into how you can find your dream clients and speak their language so they can’t help but say, “Yes, you’re exactly what I need!”
First things first, let’s figure out who your ideal client is. Think beyond the basics like age and location—what are they really about? What makes them tick? Are they a coffee-shop-laptop kind of person or someone who thrives on early-morning hikes? Understanding not just their demographics but also their values and pain points is key.

Here’s the thing: people don’t just buy products or services—they buy solutions to their problems. So ask yourself, what are my ideal clients struggling with? Maybe they’re overwhelmed by juggling too many hats or they feel stuck trying to scale their business.
When I coach creatives, time management and marketing overwhelm are two pain points I hear all the time. By addressing these directly in my offerings and messaging, I connect with clients on a deeper level. You can do the same by really listening to what your audience needs.
Once you know their struggles, it’s time to meet them where they’re at—literally and figuratively. Use the words and phrases your ideal client uses when talking about their challenges and goals. You want them to read your website or social media and think, “Wow, this person gets me.”
For me, it’s about keeping things approachable, a little sassy, and full of actionable advice—because that’s what my clients resonate with. Your tone will depend on your audience, but make sure it’s authentic to you, too.
Here’s the truth: your clients have options. But what makes you their best option? This is where your unique value proposition (UVP) comes in.
For example, I blend my branding expertise with real-world coaching to help my clients create businesses that feel aligned and profitable. Whatever sets you apart, make it loud and clear. Your ideal client should walk away thinking, “This is exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
Client testimonials and success stories are gold. Share them! They show potential clients what’s possible and help build trust.
For instance, on my website, and socials, I feature stories from clients who’ve transformed their businesses through my services. It’s not about bragging—it’s about showing that your work gets results.
Where does your ideal client hang out online? Instagram? LinkedIn? TikTok? Focus your efforts there, and make sure your content is optimized for SEO. Targeted blog posts, like “Top 5 Mistakes I See Photographers Make on Their Website” can help attract the right audience to your website.
Once you’ve connected with your ideal client, keep the momentum going! Personalized emails, Instagram interactions, and genuine support go a long way. Show them you care about their success, not just their payment.
For me, this looks like sending thoughtful gifts, regular check-ins, sharing valuable tips, and celebrating wins with my clients. It’s about creating a long-term partnership, not a one-time transaction.
Here’s the big takeaway: when you focus on finding and speaking to your ideal client, your business starts to feel aligned. You attract people who value your work, respect your boundaries, and trust your process.
Need help figuring all this out? That’s exactly what I do. Whether it’s crafting a killer brand strategy, designing a standout website, or coaching you through the tough stuff, I’m here to help you grow a business that feels like you.
