You don’t use (or have enough) Call-to-action buttons on your pages.
Call-to-Action buttons (aka CTAs) are so underused and underrated. Many assume that just having a “Contact Me” link in the page header is all you need….
What you want to do instead is to make sure that your ideal client has a bunch of opportunities to take the action you want them to take (book an appointment, contact you, visit your shop, etc), while skimming through your site. Make it as easy on them as possible by adding extra CTAs on each site page. It may seem redundant to have multiple buttons leading to the same action throughout your site pages, but TRUST ME, adding this super easy addition to your site pages is guaranteed to increase your sales conversion rate!
You have a portfolio page instead of laying out your site with session-specific pages.
If you’ve been following along recently, you know that I am NOT a fan of portfolio pages. There are multiple reasons for my opinion on this but, you’ll have to check out my “Your Portfolio Page is Losing You Money” blog post because it’s a little too much to type out for this blog post.
Your site doesn’t follow basic SEO rules.
I know SEO can seem totally overwhelming, especially for newer business owners, BUT DON’T FRET! Implementing a few EASY SEO rules can absolutely skyrocket your SEO ranking. Adding Alt Text to all images, using page and site descriptions, using keywords intentionally, and making sure you are connected to Google Analytics are just a handful of small things you can do that will make a BIG IMPACT. Your mobile site is not user-friendly
You would be totally blown away to know how many small business owners set up their website for desktop and never make sure the mobile version is user-friendly. There’s a good chance that a majority of your clients are only viewing your site’s mobile version, so you better make damn sure that your mobile site is looking and functioning the way it should for your prospective clients.
Your site flow doesn’t consider your client’s experience
Your website shouldn’t just be filled with pretty pictures and some catchy text. You have to be intentional in how you lay out your website. You should constantly be considering how to arrange each page to make sure that it helps guide your client exactly where you want them to go. Before you organize (or reorganize your site) sit down and plot out what experience you want your ideal client to have from the moment they visit your site until they book. Use your notes to help you be more intentional with your web page layouts so that your ideal client is easily guided to where you want them to go.
Hey Friends, I’m Becci, Owner of Becci Ravera Creative
I’m a Cali girl with a touch of southern roots, currently falling in love with Oregon. I’ve been known to wildly chase dreams, especially the “crazy ones” … Ask me about that time I made my family travel the US in an RV for almost 3 years!
After a decade of running a successful photography business, even while traveling full-time, I realized, almost by accident, that my real love is helping other small biz owners navigate through the usual hang-ups that come with running a business. From custom branding + web design to business organization + marketing, I am with you every step of the way. Helping others reach their dreams is my love language (well, that and chips), so what dreams are you holding out on? ‘Cause I’m ready to show you how you can make them a reality!
