About Becci
TL;DR: Your website isn’t a disaster…it’s just a hot mess of mixed messages. Clear that crap up, stop trying to be everything at once, and speak like a human instead of a robot. Your dream clients will thank you (and actually stay on your site).
You ready for me to be blunt and honest? Good ’cause, that’s the only way I know to be. So here goes…. your website isn’t ugly. It’s just confused AF. Chances are your site (and your Homepage in particular) is either too busy or not easy to follow.
When potential clients land on your homepage, you have about 3-10 seconds (yep, 10 freaking seconds) to grab their attention and make them feel like, “Oh, this is my kind of person.” If your homepage is messy and unprofessional, cluttered, unclear, or missing important eye-catching elements, they bounce faster than you can say “bounce rate.”
Your homepage is your digital welcome sign. It needs to be inviting, clear, and oh yes a little flirty (aka engaging) teasing enough so visitors want to click deeper. Think of it like the front porch of a house, it shows off your style, hints at what’s inside, but doesn’t force guests to explore every room right away.
Here’s a few easy tips to help you make sure your website is giving “YAASSSSS!”
1. Clear, easy-to-follow navigation– Make it obvious what you do and where people should click next. Don’t make them play detective. Include a “What to Expect” section to help them know what steps you want them to take and what will happen after.
2. Repeat after me, Call-to-Action buttons!! Make sure your homepage easily (and obviously) guides your potential client to the next steps you want them to take. Call to action buttons (think “Ready to chat, book a call”, “Send me a message for more info”, “Visit the blog to hear more of my favorite client stories”) make it super easy for your audience to see what they need to do to learn more about your services. Pro tip: More than one CTA on your homepage is def a good idea, as long as you do have a bunch that make it hard for clients to figure out where they should go next.
3. Tease other pages– Your Homepage should be a well organized sneak peek into all the places you want your client visit on your site. Give little hints or highlights, “Check out learn more about our dreamy experiences,” “Wondering about pricing? We’ve got you,” or “Want to know how it all works? Start here.” This gets people curious without overwhelming them.
4. Show your personality– This is THE most underrated part. Your personality isn’t just your brand colors or logo, it’s how you write, what you care about, and how you make your clients feel. And please, please, please stop writing like you’re trying to win a Pulitzer. Write like you’re texting your bestie: smart, chill, and a little bit sassy. Because people connect with people, not robots. When your website actually sounds like you, it feels authentic. And guess what? Authenticity books clients like nothing else.
So, if your website feels “off,” it’s probably not because of the design or the fonts or whatever you think. It’s because it’s shouting everything at once and forgetting to talk to your ideal client like a human. Clear the clutter, map out a homepage that guides visitors with care, and inject your vibe unapologetically.
That’s how you turn clicks into clients.
So next time you look at your site and think “Ugh, it’s so ugly,” just remember: it’s not ugly. It’s confused. And confusion? Totally fixable. Let’s get you clear, confident, and booked AF.
